Golden light, the sound of the waves, a few rocks, and above all, two lovers simply enjoying their time together. For their engagement photo shoot, M&A chose to meet in Sanary-sur-Mer, a few months before their wedding scheduled for June 2027.

For their engagement photo shoot, M&A wanted a setting that reflected who they are: something simple, bright, and deeply Mediterranean.

Sanary-sur-Mer was therefore the obvious choice.

Located between Toulon and Bandol, the town offers a wide variety of landscapes perfect for a couples’ photo shoot: beaches, small coves, rocks, coastal trails, and sweeping views of the Mediterranean. Sanary’s coastline alternates between sandy beaches, pebble beaches, and rocky coves.

But beyond the scenery, it’s the light at the end of the day that really makes all the difference.

For an engagement photo shoot in Sanary, the sunset offers much softer, more enveloping light. The colors become warmer, shadows fall across the rocks, and the sea gradually takes on golden hues.

And that evening, M&A were treated to absolutely magnificent light.

The idea wasn’t to take a series of very posed photos.

Quite the opposite.

For me, an engagement photo shoot should, above all, be a moment to share as a couple. The goal is to create images that tell the story of your relationship rather than simply showing you facing the camera.

So with M&A, we walked along the waterfront, taking the time to observe the light, chat, laugh, and enjoy this moment together.

Then, little by little, the camera almost faded into the background.

That’s exactly what I love about couple photo shoots: starting with something very simple and letting natural interactions create the images.

A glance.

A hand reaching for the other’s.

A laugh.

An embrace.

A moment of silence facing the sea.

It’s often these little moments that become my favorite photos.

Between the sea and the rocks: the perfect backdrop for couple photos

What I particularly love about Sanary-sur-Mer is the diversity of textures and landscapes that can be incorporated into a single photo shoot.

The sea brings a tremendous amount of movement and light, while the rocks allow us to create more graphic and editorial-style images.

For this shoot, we played with both of these worlds: very light-filled images at the water’s edge, followed by closer, more intimate shots among the rocks.

The result still looks natural, but with that slight editorial touch that I particularly love to capture in my photo shoots.

Sanary also offers several options for couples looking to do an engagement photo shoot in the Var. The coastal walk, in particular, takes you to the Pointe de la Cride, a rocky headland offering sweeping panoramic views of the coastline and renowned for its sunsets.
